| …This exhibition is not a perfunctory search for roots, least of all in Sabine Mooibroek’s work. Her clear voice and diction make for a resounding welcome. Her video raises an impossible question in three languages. “How would you celebrate your coup d’état?” She says it, almost sings it, while merry streamers colour the sky. “Wie, wie würden SIE feiern?” We see flags, one ruler celebrates his coup with his head “in the air, in the newspapers, on the walls”. Mooibroek’s staccato sentences combined with the happy pictures poke fun at all dictators… |
